There were fourteen informational booths to visit, such as Health Plus’ booth on Health Insurance, RAPP’s on Relationship Abuse, and Spark’s on Drug Alcohol Prevention. The Health Center sponsored several booths which included the topic of Risks of Tattoos and Body Piercing, HIV and STI Prevention and Nutrition. Ms. Lackovic’s students in the Health Careers Program did height and weight screenings. In addition, eighty of Ms. McCauley’s art students took part in the 1st Annual Health and Safety Hand-in-Hand. The winners were chosen by the clinic department. Third place went to Brittney Wilson, second to Kristen Jamieson, and first to Darian Allen. There was also an advertisement poster winner and that went to Rhea Kurbandi. Our spring musical, starring Selvin Hernandez, Donna May Jones and Allison Lastique, opened May 20th, to rave reviews from the students, staff and community members who saw it. Student Government is collecting nominations for the future Student Council of 2004/ 2005. If you want to run, see Ms. Mason in room 337. Also, the Student Government is currently collecting donations to sponsor them in the Breast Cancer "Relay for Life", which will be held at Beach Channel High School in June. Students are accepting any size donation but if you donate $10, You can have a candle lit in honor of anyone you would like. Please donate to this worthy cause. We would also like to extend congratulations to all of the FRHS students who have received their college acceptance already. We think that it’s great that the following students were accepted: Azalia Abdulina to Pace, Jonathan Acosta and Karl Pierre to St. Johns, Jessica Burgos to Hofstra, Marta Perez to Baruch, and Shabnam Sereer to Long Island University.
