Rockaway Urban Patriots Go To Scarsdale

Rockaway Urban Patriots Go To Scarsdale

This past Sunday after several schedule changes the Patriots were finally able to nail the Scarsdale Lacrosse team down. Twenty members convoyed up to Scarsdale for their first face-off against this very experienced team.

We learn that most of the team has played since they were five years old, while the Rockaway boys are in their first year.

Rockaway’s Kaseem King was in the goal for the first half, being replaced by Max Linden who blocked every shot against him. Although there were as many as a dozen shots on goal by the Patriots none got by their season goalie. Hats off to the team for a well played game despite a rather uncomfortable environment and challenger. A re-match is scheduled for this Friday at Beach Channel High School at 5:00 p.m., so come out and support the team!

On May 28th the NYCHA Lacrosse teams from Redfern and Hammels will conduct a skills drill and scrimmages.

The Patriots will also be there to partake in the fun. Many of the Patriots are planning on participating in the 21st Annual Yale Tournament on June 5th in New Haven, Conn. The season is winding down with only one more scheduled game against the Levittown Tomahawks scheduled for June 12th in Levittown.

The team will be taking the summer off, regrouping in September, with registration signup/tryouts in late August.
