Mildred Louise Drayton
Mildred Louise Drayton, a Rockaway resident for more than 15 years, died on May 9. She was 80.
Drayton, who was born in Brooklyn, belonged to the Mount Lebanon Baptist Church. She was a seamstress.
Drayton was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Laura Drayton; and a sister, Doris.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Ann; son, Jerry Jr.; brother, Howard Drayton; sisters, Loretta Anderso and Lorraine Howard-Trammell; sister in law, Lillian; daughter in law, Denise Minton; son in law Carl Blackman; grandchildren, Nzingha Blackman, Eric, Tracey and Justin Minton; great grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney, Amru and Cameron; and other family and friends.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home with a service at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Disposition was at Pinelawn emetery.
Ellen McGivern, a Rockaway Beach resident for more than 30 years, died on May 15.
McGivern, who was born in Gortermone, County Sligo, Ireland, was a homemaker. She was a parishioner of St. Camillus Church, where she was a member of the Golden Age Society.
McGivern was preceded in death by her husband, John F. McGivern.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary W. McGivern and sister, Margaret Smith.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at St. Raymond's Cemetery.
Luellar Mitchell, who has family in Arverne, died on May 8. She was 81.
Mitchell, who was born in Williamsburg, South Carolina, was a domestic worker. She was a parishioner of the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Arverne.
She was preceded in death by her parents Augie and Floria Nesmith Morris.
Mitchell is survived by her children, Mildred Emerson, Carleen Mitchell, of Arverne, Olivia Thames, Deborah David, Sydell Cook, of Arverne, Ronald Mitchell, of Arverne and Luvell Mitchell; sisters, Lillie Beeks and Bulen Stokes; brother in law, Samuel Green, daughter in law, Pauline Mitchell; sons in law, Neil David and William Emerson; 25 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren and other family and friends.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A service was held at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Disposition was at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale.
