Weiner Receives High Marks on Environment

Congressman Anthony Weiner has received high marks from one of the nation’s leading environmental organizations. Weiner received an "A" grade from the American Wilderness Coalition (AWC) in their latest report on the voting records of every Member of Congress.

The American Wilderness Coalition works to protect and expand the nation’s wilderness preservation system, tracts of land that have been congressionally protected from encroachment by developers and industry.

The AWC’s "Wild Card" report grades Members of Congress based on whether they voted to protect these unspoiled areas.

The American Wilderness Coalition awarded Congressman Weiner an "A" in their report on the first session of the 108th Congress.  According to the AWC, Weiner cast the wilderness protecting vote every time, voting, among other things, to protect the Alaskan rain forest, stop drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and moving to block unfettered logging and roadways from decimating our nation’s forestland.

"Unspoiled wilderness remains one of America’s most precious and endangered natural resources," said Rep. Weiner.  "I will fight to make sure that our kids and grandkids can experience their beauty and wonder."
