PHC To Provide Stroke Screening May 24

Peninsula Hospital Center and the American Stroke Association are joining forces on Monday, May 24 to offer free stroke assessments in the Meditation Room in the Rehabilitation Division of Peninsula Hospital Center.

These screenings will be conducted between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and will offer participants free blood pressure checks and other simple measures to evaluate an individual’s stroke risk. In observance of American Stroke Month, the American Stroke Association has established the StrokeAlert! Program – a FREE community stroke screening program.

Peninsula Hospital Center was recently designated an official Stroke Center for the South Queens region by the New York State Department of Health. A trained stroke team is now available and on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week at PHC. Under this new designation, ambulance providers will be directed to take patients with signs and symptoms of stroke to Peninsula Hospital where a stroke team will be waiting.
