A near-fatal one car automobile accident that sent an unidentified Hammel woman to Jamaica Hospital with life-threatening injuries tied up Beach Channel Drive at Beach 108 Street for several hours on Thursday afternoon at approximately 2 p.m. Police sources say that they believed that the woman was driving at high speed eastbound on Beach Channel Drive when she lost control of her car and crashed into a metal light stanchion. At first, police sources say that they believed that she was likely to die from the accident, but later reports from the hospital indicated that she would live.

The detritus of a life. Material that fell from the rear seat in the crash included children’s coloring books and food wrappers. A video game was thrown through the rear window onto the trunk by the force of the crash. On the rear seat were two children’s car seats, but there were not children in the car at the time of the accident.
The left front tire of the car was pushed halfway through the body of the car by the crash.
