Star Gazing in Broad Channel

Star Gazing in Broad Channel

Local astronomer John Kinneary of Broad Channel brought out his giant telescope for viewing craters on the moon at the American Littoral Society’s headquarters on West 9th Road. Although the weather wasn’t great, the group was able to see Venus and Jupiter as well as beautiful closeup views of the moon’s rugged surface through breaks in the clouds. In early June, the group will look for horseshoe crabs and other marine life a little closer to home. For information about the society’s free programs, call (718) 318-9344. Local astronomer John Kinneary of Broad Channel brought out his giant telescope for viewing craters on the moon at the American Littoral Society’s headquarters on West 9th Road.
