Urban Patriots Meet Well Seasoned Opponent

Urban Patriots Meet Well Seasoned Opponent

The Rockaway Urban Patriots opened their season last Tuesday when they took on the Manhattan Crusaders at Randall’s Island.

An older and more experienced team, the Crusaders were no match for the determination and energy of the younger and determined Patriots. Seamus Kirk scored the first goal for the Patriots. John Bisciano, Timothy Flynn and Danny Buckley all made several shots on goal but could not get by the older and more experienced goalkeeper of the Crusaders.

The highlight of the game came in the 4th period. Robert Peters passed the ball down field to Kyle Pareja, who in turned passed to Evan Flynn, who scored a picture perfect goal, bringing the Rockaway fans to their feet. Every member of this 24-man squad had play time and all seemed to enjoy their first Lacrosse outing. This was an excellent experience and many lessons were learned.

Congratulations to the entire team for a job well done. The team will have their home opener on Sunday, May 2nd at 1:00PM when they play Doc’s Lacrosse at Beach Channel High School. This game will be followed by a rematch against the Crusaders, on Tuesday May 4th at 5:30PM, also at Beach Channel High School.
