Williams To Be Honored By Kennedy Center

Ann Williams, Ph.D., a long time resident of Rockaway Point, will be honored by the Kennedy Child Study Center at its Annual Spring Benefit at Tavern on the Green on May 20, for her forty years of dedicated service to mentally retarded/developmentally delayed infants and preschoolers.

Dr. Williams, currently Executive Director of the Kennedy Child Study Center, began her career at there as a part-time speech therapist and over the course of her career has held numerous positions within the Agency. Williams will be awarded the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Leadership award which is given to a woman who has contributed significantly to the field of mental retardation through her personal commitment and outstanding leadership.

His Eminence, Edward Cardinal Egan, and Patricia Kennedy Lawford are honorary chairpersons of the event and Chuck Scarborough, NBC News anchor, will be the master of ceremony.

Among the local residents on the Benefit committee are Mary Intrabartolo, Arthur and Lorraine Larsen, Ann Marie O’Grady, Kevin Williams, Terrence Williams and Christine Williams.
