Rockaway parents and children have donated a number of new books for children ages 4-7 as part of the "One More Story" program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in Manhattan.

As part of the program, volunteers read to pediatric patients receiving treatment each day. The children select their own books from among those donated and then keep them to read again.

Sharon Hallstein, a retired P.S. 114 kindergarten teacher, coordinates the program at the hospital.

During May, book baskets will be placed in Ciro’s Pastry Shop, Citibank and Harbor Optics, where people can donate books for the children at the hospital.

The children particularly love the antics of Clifford and Franklin, dinosaurs and firefighters.

Additionally, the P.S. 114 Student Council, under the direction of Mrs. Tufano, will sponsor and coordinate the book donation at the school.
