Muriel Stemmann says thas she always considered herself lucky that she lives in Broad Channel, what she considered a safe town. She lives in the same house that her father, Bill and his two brothers, Arthur and Charles, built in 1900 – a total of 104 years ago.

"Long ago, I could walk down the Boulevard and say, hello, to everyone. They were all my friends and neighbors," She says. "Now, I know no one, as they have all either moved on or passed on, etc.

As a result, I am not so lucky anymore."

On Wednesday morning, Stemmann’s granddaughter Elizabeth’s car (that she just had overhauled for more than $900) was "car bombed" as the fire marshal told her.

In addition, her daughter’s van had four windows broken and so did her grandson Anthony’s car.

"Could anyone hate us this much," she wonders. "I am not so happy anymore."
