It all started in 1976 when Frankie Beverly moved from Philadelphia to San Francisco and formed Maze. The first album Maze featuring Frankie Beverly was made. This album had a string of hits that included "Lady of Magic" and "Workin’ Together." Once the 80’s came it brought the release of the best-selling albums, Golden Time of Day, Inspiration, Joy and Pain, with singles that topped the charts including "Feel That You’re Feeling," "Joy and Pain," "Look in Your Eyes" and "Southern Girl." The group gained worldwide recognition with its legendary sold-out live appearances and with the release of the deluxe album Live in New Orleans. This captured audiences to feel the energy, excitement and electricity of a Maze stage show. With the release of We Are One, Frankie Beverly & Maze solidified their international standing with such hits as " Never Let You Down," "I Love You Too Much" and "Love is the Key."
Towards the end of the 80’s the group released Can’t Stop the Love along with a second in concert package, Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly Live in L.A. By changing labels and shifts in the group’s line-up, one of the band’s most successful albums, Silky Soul came out of it, which included the smash single "I Can’t Get over You." The band emphasized more on their strengths and elements that brought them together. After a year of touring North America And Europe, Frankie Beverly & Maze took a break to recharge themselves and come back with the release of Back to Basics which captured the passionate, electrifying essence of the group and included hit singles such as "Laid Back Girl," "The Morning After" and "What Goes Up."
