Murder Victim’s Memorial Trashed, Burned

The crime scene memorial to Tommy Johnson, the promising 17-year-old student and athlete from Far Rockaway who was shot and killed in 2001, was torn apart and set on fire last week. The memorial, which the Johnson family maintains on a utility pole at Beach 57 Street and Beach Channel Drive, was damaged twice this year: in February after Charles Sealey was convicted of murder and last week – just days after Sealey was sentenced to 25 years to life.
