The Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation (RDRC), held the first in its’ series of business workshops entitled "Rockaway Means Business," on Friday, March 12. RDRC, in collaboration with local banks and government agencies, provided the Rockaway business community with a day of information about financing opportunities that are available to the small business owner.

The event was held at the Beach Club on Beach 116 Street and "Access to Capital" was the theme that attracted more than 121 local business owners.

Among the panelists presenting from the banking community were representatives from GreenPoint Bank, Fleet Bank, Northfork Bank, CitiBank, and J.P. MorganChase. The banks presented during the morning session and after lunch, which was graciously donated by the banks in attendance. Representatives from the government agencies presented their loan and capital access programs and included representatives from the New York Business Development Corporation, New York City Economic Development Corporation, New York City Department of Small Business Services, the United States Small Business Administration and Small Business Development Center at York College.

Through this workshop RDRC is striving to provide Rockaway’s businesses with the latest information on valuable products and services available to businesses in order to assist them in operating their businesses more efficiently.

In addition, these workshops seek to address economic development issues in the Rockaways and Broad Channel and provide an environment for meaningful business networking.
