Pheffer Announces Building Block Grants
Assemblywoman Audrey I. Phef fer has been notified by the Neigh borhood Housing Services of Ja maica that they are offering Building Block grants to local civic and block associations throughout southern Queens, including the Rockaways, Ozone Park, Howard Beach and surrounding communities.
The Building Block grant must be used by organizations to fund specific activities and/or purchases, and proof of spending will be required by the Housing Services. Groups may opt to buy supplies for neighborhood clean-ups, special projects such as trees and shrubbery plantings, dedication ceremonies, signage, stationery, newsletters, clothing featuring the organization’s group logo, training or conference expenses, etc.
Maximum awards are $500, and the application deadline is Friday, April 30th. Recipients must use the grant money prior to June 1, 2005.
Organizations submitting the best overall applications will be awarded the grant in late May, 2004.
