The last home game for the seniors of Bishop Kearney Varsity basketball team is always a meaningful and thought provoking event. This year’s game was no exception. In a fast moving game against Bishop Ford, the girls won 50-32. Maryanne Welsh and Maria Laterza each scored 10 points and Jen Lawler (Belle Harbor), Nicole Savarese and Kristina Triglia scored 6 points each. The Tigers ended the regular season in fifth place in the league, with a 4-8-league standing and 8-15 overall.

The, the court was cleared and the senior parents were invited to the front of the gym. Juniors Kristina Triglia and Parker Griffin spoke on behalf of their teammates, reminiscing about what it was like playing on a team with the five graduating seniors and thanking them for the leadership and encouragement they had demonstrated. The seniors, in turn, thanked their teammates, their coaches and their parents for their support and for being an integral part of their basketball career at Kearney. Balloons, flowers and of course, good food, were all part of an evening that no one wanted to end.
