Temple Derech Emunoh Celebrates Purim Centennial
Congregation Derech Emunoh, founded in 1904, celebrated the festive holiday of Purim for the 100th year on Saturday, March 6.
Following the evening service (Maariv) and the reading of the Megillah, 70 congregants enjoyed a hot supper, dancing to live music, singing, a raffle and an award for best costume.
Rabbi Heshy Rubinstein delivered a "drusha" sermon in which he stated that just as Purim celebrates the survival of the Jewish people despite the malicious plans of the Persian Prime Minister, Haman, so has Congregation Derech Emunoh survived to its 100th anniversary despite the fire that destroyed its historic synagogue in 2002.
Derech Emunoh is presently planning its 16th Annual Community Passover Seder which will be held in the community room at 7400 Shore front Parkway.
