This past week has run the gamut in its range of weather. One of our
neighbors, who had her fill of winter in January, told everyone she knows to remind her not to complain about the heat this summer. Another neighbor is counting the days till the winter season ends-only one day left till the first day of Spring!

Donors Needed! There will be a Blood Drive sponsored by the BCVFD at the VFW Hall on Saturday, March 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Full recycling is baaack! More on this next week.

On Sunday, March 28, from 3 p.m. till 85., Christ Presbyterian Church will hold their annual Sauerbraten Dinner. Reservations are a must! Dinners cost $10; delivery is free. Call one week in advance for reservations and for home delivery: Joyce at 718 474-7769, Janet at 718 318-6454 or the church at 718 945-3443.

On Monday, April 12 at 1:30 p.m. the Library will feature "Gumbo Ya’ll" for the whole family to enjoy as part of Storytelling Month. "Gumbo Ya’ll" features stories and songs of Louisiana. (I wasn’t sure what gumbo is so I looked it up online; it said gumbo was another name for the vegetable okra!)

P.S. 47 will hold their first Family Fun Night on Fri day, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Amer ican Legion Hall, 209 Cross Bay Blvd. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. for tattoos, face paint ing and dino saur fun. Evening will feature "Dino-Man," a children’s theatre production. Food and soft drinks will be available. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children and can be purchased in advance by calling Kate at 718 474-5902 or Laura at 718 634-2166. Un accom panied children will not be ad mitted. (All proceeds will help fund future events.)

Moonlight Bowling, sponsored by St. Virgilius P.A., will take place on Sat urday, March 27 at 8 p.m. at Cozy Bowl in Ozone Park (which was Amer icana Lanes at one time). Tickets in advance are $20 each; at the door they are $25 per ticket. Price includes: two games, shoe rental and food. The 2004 Jamaica Bay Little League season will kick off on Saturday, April 24 with a parade down Cross Bay Blvd. Help in running the league is needed and wanted.

Picture Book Classes for preschoolers age 3 and up will take place at the
Library on Wednesdays starting on March 17 and ending on May 12. Classes start at 10 a.m. and feature 20 to 30 minutes of songs, stories and crafts-lots of fun for the younger set!

Mark the date! Learn what the new prescription plan will mean to you. The seniors will have a speaker on Thursday, April 22 at their meeting at 12:30 p.m. on Church Road in Christ Church community room. If you are a retired senior, plan to attend. All seniors are welcome! Membership in the club is NOT required to attend this talk.

St. Virgilius P.A. will hold its annual Scholastic Book Fair for all ages. It will be held on various dates and at various times. The schedule is as follows:: Fri day, March 19 the hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 7 to 9 p.m. Family Literacy Night is Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. (Children: wear your pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal!) On Saturday, March 20, hours will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, March 21, hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The next monthly brunch held at the VFW Hall on Shad Creek Road will be on Sunday, April 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Brunch costs $6 for adults; for children cost is $3 and it includes drink or juice; eggs or pancakes; bacon, sausage or ham; roll and butter; home fries; coffee and cake.

The Broad Channel Theater Group is happy and proud to present a new
production, "The YesterYear CafE9." It offers music and comedy and was written by Bill Murray who is also the director. The show’s choreographer is Tomasina Ogden. Liz Boyle and Pat rick Hanning are the producers. The musical director is Rob Koch. Donny Minor will donate all the lighting for the show.

This year there will be a special group performing with the Theater Group; the Wax-R-Back is coming back from the Florida Keys and will Doo-Wop the audience back to the 1950’s. The dynamic duo of Jane Murray and Kay Trudden will be
back also. Some of the legendary members will be on hand to lift your spirits, namely: Craig (Miltey) Boyle, Mar garet A. Wagner, Linda Kittle, Sally Williams, Tomasina Ogden Jr., Mike Beaudry, Barbara Porcheddu, Bar bara Hayes and Nicola DePierro.A0New comers will be seen as well:A0Carol Ernst, Billy Gill, Joanne Mar nick, Allison Mills, Kaitlyn Doyle, Phyllis DePierro, Jen Donlan and Denielle LePrete.

Show dates are: Thursday, April 1 at 8 p.m.; tickets are $10 per person and there is a cash bar; Friday, April 2 at 8 p.m. tickets are $15 per person, with cash bar (Adults Only at this performance!) and Sunday April 4 at 4 p.m., $10 per ticket, cash bar. The Show will be held in the American Legion Hall at 209 Cross Bay Blvd.A0

Rockaway Artists Alliance features an exhibition in sTudio 6 Gallery called: "small, smaller, smallest: an exhibition of miniatures."

The exhibit of small works can be seen from Saturday, March 27 to Sunday, April 25.

On Saturdays gallery hours are from noon to 5 p.m.; on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.A0

The Gallery is located at the Gateway National Recreation Area on Fort Tilden in the Rockaways. (Studio 7 is closed for the winter months.)
