Carlos George Davis
Carlos George Davis, a Rockaway res i d ent for more than 20 years, pass ed away on February, 29. He was 63.
Davis, who was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies, was a parishioner at St. John’s Baptist Church. He worked as an accountant.
Davis was preceded in death by his brother, Alan.
He is survived by his wife, Charle setta; children, Deborah and Alan; step daughter, Kimberly McCollough; brothers, Earle and Ivor; brother in law, Eugene Montgomery; sister in law, Patsy and Elsa Davis; and other family members.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home. A service was held at St. John’s Baptist Church. Disposition was at Amityville Cemetery.
Warren Edward Emery
"A" Train Motorman
Warren Edward Emery, also known as "Binky," passed away on March 2. He was 75.
Emery, who was born in Brooklyn, was a Rockaway resident for more than 50 years. He served his country earning two medals in the United States Air Force during World War II. He worked as a motorman on the "A" Train.
He is survived by his wife, Ernes tine; children, Warren D. Emery (Fedi s hia), and Derek, Rise, Monica and Teckla Davis; grandchildren, Ashley, Alfon zo, Jerel, Dominique, Isiah and Der ek II; brother, Kenneth Emery (Nud ie); sisters, Edith Jones and Joyce Frans.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home, with a service at Gaffney’s Friendship Chapel. Disposition was at Oxford Hills Crematory.
Marie A. Grogan
Retired Postal Worker
Marie A. Grogan a life long resident of the Rockaways passed away on March 11.
Grogan was born in Rockaway and was a United States Postal Worker. She was also a frequent visitor at St. Camillus church.
Grogan was preceded in death by her brother Joseph Grogan.
Grogan is survived by her nieces, Veronica Barry, Teresa Davidson, and Mary O’Shea.
Funeral arrangements were en trust ed to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at St. Mary’s Of The Sea Cemetery.
Bridget R. Lloyd
Bridget Lloyd, a long time resident of Rockaway, passed away on March 9.
Lloyd, who was born in Manhattan, was a homemaker and a member of the St. Francis de Sales church, and the St. Francis Golden Age Club.
Lloyd is preceded in death by her husband William J. Lloyd; her brother, Edward Meehan; and her sister, Catherine O’Connor.
Lloyd is survived by her daughters, Colleen Dwyer and Brigidann Tura dek; son, William J. Lloyd; brother, John Rowland; sister, Anne Murtagh; and her grandchildren, Richard, Brain and Joan Turadek, and Terence and John Dwyer.
Funeral arrangements were en trusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at O’Connor’s on Friday, March 12, from 2-5p.m. and 7-10p.m. Mass will be on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.
Barbara J. Etcell
Barbara J. Etcell, a long time Rock away summer resident, of Clearwater Florida, passed away on March 6.
Etcell, who was born in New York City, was a parishioner of St. Camillus Church. She worked as a secretary.
She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Flaherty; and her sisters, Belinda Devine and Emily Harding.
Etcell is survived by her husband, George J. Etcell; daughter, Cheryl Bobby (John), of Rockaway Beach; sisters, Elizabeth Hickey, Eileen Kavan augh, Lorraine Moore and Patricia Shea; and grand daughters, Kara and Lauren Bobby, and Jessie Flaherty.
