M.S. 53 holds Math-A-Thon

Middle School 53 in Far Rock away is presently competing in the St. Jude’s Math-A-Thon for the third year under the direction of math teacher Regina Edwards.

The Math-A-Thon benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in its fight against childhood diseases.

MS 53 Math supervisor Wayne Greenberg presented a St. Jude’s video at a seventh grade assembly. In the video, severely ill children talk about their problems and thank people for helping them.

Assistant Principal Green berg was pleased that the students were practicing their math and helping less fortunate children through this program.

The Six Flags Theme Parks sponsors the Math-A-Thon and provides free park passes for any student who raises $35 or more.

The competition concludes on March 14.
