Black History Month at Far Rock High School
Far Rockaway High School rounded out their African American History Month Celebration with a tribute of color. The school celebrated African American History Month by putting up various bulletin boards, holding an essay contest, assigning group and individual projects, saluting famous African Americans daily and receiving a special visit from a Negro League baseball player.
The staff members modeled brilliant costumes honoring their rich heritage on Thursday, February 26. The staff dressed in African attire and shared a live piece of their heritage with students of the Foreign Language Depart ment. The members shared with the students their history, culture, experience and lineage. Their attire was representative of the African Cultures in America, Haiti, Honduras, Nigeria and Lebanon.
