Rockaway Wins Tough Matchup Against Tri-town

Rockaway Wins Tough Matchup Against Tri-town

It wasn’t your usual Friday night for the boys from Rockaway who competed with their Tri-town Lacrosse partners (Levittown/Farmingdale/Rock away) against the larger and older Wan tagh Warriers team in the last game of the winter season for the Long Island Indoor Boys Lacrosse League.

Holding strong at defense, Robert Peters (13) and Evan Flynn (21) were relentless in blocking shots and clearing the ball back to midfielder Kieran Ross (22) and attackmen Seamus Kirk (10). Ross had three seat leaving shots on at goal.

The game opened up with the first goal by Tri-town within the first 30
seconds of play by Levittown’s Attack men Devon Votta (2), who also scored four additional goals. The older and more experienced boys of Wantagh were no match to the determined and fearless Tri-town youngsters. After 60 minutes of play the game ended at a grueling 10-8 final, leaving Tri-town with a 5-2 record overall. Congratu lations to these fine young athletes for a job well done!

The Spring season looks promising for the boys from Rockaway who have
formed under the team name "Urban Patriots". This team of boys (ages under 11) will be playing on Sundays at Beach Channel High School against such teams as the Brooklyn Admirals, DocLacrosse (Manhattan), Wantagh Warriers, Levittown Tomahawks, Cru saders and anyone else who is up for the challenge.

Practice is on Thurs days at 5:00 p.m. at PS114.
