Janie Lue Brown
Dietary Specialist

Janie Lue Brown, a 40-year resident of the Rockaways, passed away on Feb ruary 17. She was 67.

Brown, who was born in Greenwood County, South Carolina, worked as a dietary specialist.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Dorothy Ann Brown; brothers, Andrew and Jeffrey Brown; and sister in law Ruby Mae.

Brown is survived by her children; Jeffery, Corey, Travis and Sheila Brown; grandchildren, Naquanda Camp bell, Dashawn Boyd, Naquam Bell, Janice and Carey Brown and Nyjee Harfield; siblings, Mary and Ruby Brown; Gladys Lee and Jessie Brown; Leroy and JoHany Brown; sister in law, Wildhmonia; special children, Marilyn, Vanessa, Relaya, Shan tee and DeWayne; and stepdaughters, Sabrina and Melanie.

Funeral arrangements were en trust ed with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Fun eral Home. A service was held at Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Disposition was at Forest Park Cemetery, New Jersey.

Marvin Butler
Auto Mechanic

Marvin Butler, whose children and grandchildren live in Rockaway, pass ed away on February 12. He was 50.

Butler, who was born in Mcory, Arkansas, worked as an auto mechanic. He was a parishioner of the Morn ing View Baptist Church in Ark. and then the First Baptist Church of Law rence, New York.

He was preceded in death by his fath er, McKenzie Butler; son, Martin Jr.; and brother, McKenzie Butler.

Butler is survived by his wife, Joseph ine; children, Corey, Jazmine and Rashon, of Far Rockaway; Marvin Jr. of Ohio; grandchildren, Kevin, Keshon and Marvin J.J.; mother, Louise Scott (Curtis); brothers, Willie Butler (Josephine); Robert Charles (Robin) and Eddie Cross (Rosa); sister, Brindy Charles (Reginald); mother in law, Lula Mae; two brothers in law; five sisters in law; two aunts; three uncles; and many other family members, friends and neighbors.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A service was held at the First Baptist Church. Disposition will be at Amityville Cemetery, Long Island.

Helen (nee Leonard) Enright
Grandmother of Nine

Helen (nee Leonard) Enright passed away on February 21.

Enright was preceded in death by her husband, James.

She is survived by her sons, James, John and Thomas; her daughter, Helen Kelliher; and nine grandchildren.

She was reposed at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, Bronx. A mass of Christian Burial was held at Sacred Heart Church, Dobbs Ferry. Interment was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Darcel Bertha Hamlet
Homemaker

Darcel Bertha Hamlet, whose mother, daughter and grandchildren live in Far Rockaway, passed away on Jan uary 1. She was 49.

Hamlet, who was born in Brooklyn, was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death her father, Henry Buyck; and sisters, Donna, Denise and Adrienne Hamlet.

She is survived by her mother, Bertha, of Far Rockaway; daughter, Donna, of Far Rockaway; grandchildren; Chris-Chelle (Monee), Domon ique, Jay-Quann and Jah-King; brothers, Anthony Mark, Henry Mann and Algernon Lateff; sisters, Antoinette Thompson, Darleen Hamlet and Deb orah Williams; and other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements were en trusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home with a service at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Disposi tion was at Oxford Hills Crematory, Chester, New York.

William P. Murchio
Retired Coastal Oil Driver

William P. Murchio, a Rockaway Point resident for nearly 30 years, passed away on February 22.

Murchio, who was born in Green wood Lake, New York, was retired from his work as a Teamsters Local 553 driver for the Coastal Oil Comp any. He was also affiliated with the may or's committee of Roxbury and the Greenwood Lake Benevolent and Protective Organization of the Elks 2067.

He was preceded in death by his bro thers, John and Louis Murchio.

Murchio is survived by his wife, Nancy Keller Murchio; daughter, Linda Meyer; sons, Andrew and Will iam Murchio; step sons, Chris topher, Michael, Robert and Russell Schaffer; brother, Robert Murchio; many nieces and nephews; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were en trusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Burial arrangements were kept private.

Ira Joe McKines
Security Officer

Ira Joe McKines, a Rockaway resident for more than 35 years, passed away on February 23. He was 38.

McKines, who was born in Meri dan, Mississippi, worked as a security officer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Grant McKines Sr.

McKines is survived by his mother, Nettie McKines; siblings, Lillie, Betty, Carol, Gary and Grant Jr.; aunts, Dora, Nell, Jannie Mae, Ejella and Lillie Mae; uncles, Sanders, Roger, Klem and Malikye; six nephews; eight nieces; five grandnephews; two god sisters; two brothers in law; a sister in law; a nephew in law; and friend, David Hills.

Mary E. Martin
Healthcare Worker

Mary E. Martin, a Belle Harbor resident for more than 20 years, passed away on February 23.

Martin was born in Mohill, County Leitrim, Ireland, worked in the health care industry and was a par ish ioner at St. Francis de Sales.

Martin was preceded in death by her nephews, Reverend Patrick Carroll and Thomas Martin; sisters, Bridie Carroll and Annie Martin; brothers, James and Thomas Martin; and a sister, Katie Reynolds. She is survived by a niece, Mary Ellen Carroll; and a nephew, Thomas Rey nolds.

Funeral arrangements were en trust ed with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales on Friday, Feb ruary 27, at 10:45 a.m.

Mildred O'Brien
Retired School Aide

Mildred O'Brien, a retired school aide at P.S. 114 and a 60-year Rock away resident passed away on Feb ruary 20. She was 99.

O'Brien, who was born in Green point, was a long time member of the St. Francis de Sales Golden Age Club, as well as the Rosary and Altar Soc iety.

She was preceded in death by her husband James F. O'Brien, and her son James O'Brien.

She is survived by two sons, Eugene O'Brien and John O'Brien; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grand children.

Funeral arrangements were en trusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Disposition was at Long Island National Cemetery.

Michael "Mario" Pontieri
Postal Worker for 37 Years

Michael "Mario" Pontieri, a former long time resident of Rockaway Beach, passed away after a long battle with cancer on February 7.

Pontieri was born in the old Rock away Beach Hospital on February 12, 1942. He worked in Rockaway for the United States Postal Service, and retired after 37 years. He moved with his wife to Rocky Point, Long Island, about six years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Cali (nee Emery); daughters, Robyn Sal lustro (Bill) and Dawn; sons, Fred Pol izzi, Mickey (Tina), Richard (Alice); six granddaughters; three grand sons; one great granddaughter; one great grandson; his sisters, Nancy Treffomovich, Katie DeMaio and Rose Peluso; brothers, John, Joe, Sam and Albie; and other relatives.

The family asks that any donations be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice, Port Jefferson, New York 11776.

Irene Susan Reda
Office Manager UPS

Irene Susan Reda, who was born in Rockaway Beach, passed away on February 21.

Reda, who lived and worked in Brook lyn, was an office manager for the United States Postal Service.

She is survived by her husband, James Reda; her mother, Varnell Car ter Caligiuri; aunts, Catherine and Jean McKenna; uncles, George Cali giuri and Joseph McKenna; and 13 first cousins.

Funeral arrangements were en trusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Re surrection/St. Charles Cemetery.

Margaret M. Wolfer
Toll Collector

Margaret Wolfer, a toll collector at the Atlantic Beach Bridge, passed away on February 24.

Wolfer, who was born in Far Rockaway, was the wife of the late Joseph Wolfer, the longtime proprietor of Seier Iron Works, in Averne. She lived in Atlantic Beach for nearly 80 years.

Wolfer is survived by son, Frank Wolfer (Christine); and her two grandsons, Jimmy and Joe Wolfer.

Funeral arrangements were en trusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales on Friday, Feb ruary 27 at 9:45 a.m. Interment will be at Long Island National Ceme tery.
