Woman Sexually Assaulted At Shore Front Parkway
An unidentified 39-year-old wo m an was sexually assaulted on Mon day as she put her laundry into a dryer at 8100 Shore Front Parkway.
The woman told police that she was returning home from grocery shopping while her laundry was in the washing machine in the first floor laundry room.
She said that she noticed a man standing in the vestibule of the building and, when she used her key to open the door, he held the door for her and followed her into the building.
She noticed the man push the button for the building’s elevators while she went into the laundry room.
As he was putting her clothes in the dryer, the woman told police, she felt the man place one of his hands over her mouth while he put the other onto her crotch.
Although he was holding her tightly, the woman said, she began screaming and pulling away from her attacker.
The man told her to "be quiet" and renewed his grip on the frightened woman.
She continued to scream and the man ran to the door of the laundry room and then into the hallway.
She went to the door and looked out. Her attacker was heading back to the laundry room "with his hand inside his pants."
The woman slammed the door to the laundry room and locked it, continuing to call for help.
The attacker fled and the woman kept the room locked until she heard the voice of another tenant outside the door.
The perpetrator is described by police as a male, Hispanic, about 5 foot six inches tall.
Detectives from the NYPD’s Special Victim’s Unit are investigating.
