Post Office To Honor Robeson, BCHS

Far Rockaway Post Office and its Postmaster, George P. Buonocore, will be hosting a Black history month event at the Beach Channel High School auditorium at 10:30 a.m. today, February 27.

At that time, the Postal Service will be unveiling the newest edition to the Black History Stamp Collection, the Paul Robeson Stamp.

They will also be honoring both
Con gressman Gregory Meeks and the Schools principal, Dr. Morris.

What makes this event even more special, a post office spokesperson says, is that the Postal Service will be using a special cancellation commemorating the issuance of the stamp at the school as well as Beach Channel High School’s 30th anniversary.A0

The spokesperson says that this will be the first and last time that people in the community can get this special Can cellation Postmark commemorating the event.

The school’s principal, Dr. David Mor ris says that was so over whelmed with the Idea that he insisted that not only the senior class be present for this assembly, but he was willing to open it to alumni in the community as well.

There will be two types of cancellations available; a special commemorative souvenir postcard which will have the stamp and special postmark, which will sell for $4.00 and a single stamped envelope with the postmark, which will sell for $2.00. These will be available through the school on that day.A0There will be many special guests on that day as part of the program. Look next week for more information.
