Kearney Wins Two in Egg Harbor Shootout

The Bishop Kearney Tigers traveled to The Ventnor City Complex just outside of Atlantic City this weekend.
In Kearney’s first matchup, they played Mainland High School and
Kearney defeated Mainland 66-38. Maryanne Welsh scored 18 points and 12 rebounds, Maria Laterza 13 scored points and 11 rebounds Jen Lawler (Belle Harbor) added 7 points

In Kearney’s 2nd game, Kearney defeated Egg Harbor Township, 71-63. Kearney got off to a good start in this matchup by scoring 21 first quarter points but so did their opponent. Kearney found itself behind 22-21 to close out the quarter. That was the last time they were behind as the tigers went on a 23-6 run to lead 44-28 at the half.

Maryanne Welsh had a career high 27 points 13 rebounds. Freshman Maria Laterza had 18 points 16 rebounds, Senior Captain Jen Lawler had 10 points and sophomore guard Jill Brady (Rockaway Park) had 10 points. Kearney has two remaining games on Friday February 20 at Mary Louis 6;00 P.M. and Tuesday at Bishop Kearney at 5:45 p.m.
