Congratulations to John Heslin, re tired NYC Detective in the Bomb Squard, devoted husband to one of Breezy Point;s most active community members, Ann Heslin. John’s mother, nee Mary Kelly, was a survivor of the Titanic. She got on the last collapsible lifeboat. She was 19 at the time and was coming to join her new husband to be, John’s father. They married and had seven children. John is one of this year’s Honorees for Deputy Grand Marshal for the 2004 Rockaway St. Patrick’s Day Parade along with Fr. Vincent O’Connell of St. Thomas More Church and A.J. Smith, member of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative, all from Breezy Point..

The New York Times best seller book," The DaVinci Code", has come under a great deal of controversy. The book club at the Breezy Point Library now under the direction of Tom Ma honey will have a discussion on the Opus Dei and Priory of Zion, the Churchtruth and fiction at St. Edmund’s Church Hall on Thursday March 11th at 7:30 p.m. It sounds like a stimulating meeting. Be there.

The Golden Agers will hold a luncheon with guests in vintage clothes celebrating Fat Tuesday on Feb. 24 at St. Thomas More Church Hall. The Sec ond Hand Rose Boutique will be in evidence in the entrance space to sell their items.

There was a staff meeting of the Voice of the Faithful recently and Sr. Ellen of Finn, head of the Healing Committee for Abused Children suggested the Church issue a formal apology to the victims, asking forgiveness. Good idea. The victims have been waiting for that.

The Toy Show is in town and not as big this year nor as lengthy as other years, but still fascinating and fun.

Elmo sings and dances YMCA. Win nie the Pooh takes his first steps and is just adorable. When he falls you have to pick him and give him a hug. Potty Elmo is in diapers with a potty chair to help train your child

to potty. As you probably know by now, Barbie has left Ken (what are we telling our children ??) She has a car and a new girlfriend who has an at tractive brother. (Need I tell you more?) The Cabbage patch Mother is getting a sonogram on top of her cabbage to track the health of her baby to be born early June. A hilarious video of Cabbage Patch dolls exercising is available. Barney cleans his teeth and drinks. Galloping Hippo is a "hip" toy. Peek a Block and the Cali Gal (Cali fornia gal). Oregon Scientific celebrated it’s 5 year at their showroom and I was enthralled with Barbie B Bright computers that teach children as young as three years old and five years old how to operate a computer. They are also available for older youngsters .Got a kick out of

little birds that chirp when you press their bellies at Wild Republic. Lots of educational toys that make our children so bright. And so much more Some of these will be seen on my WNYX-TV segments.

I have always believed in stores with a good name be cause they will live up to their reputation in servicing you.

As an example: I bought a marble top table on sale with a slight defect years ago at Mau rice Villency. The perfect table upstairs was very, very expensive. The table on sale had a slight scratch on it, but I wanted it regardless. Two days be fore the arrival date I got a call from the store with. "Good news and bad news", he said, " The table cracked in two while loading it on the truck." However, we are sending you a brand new table without a flaw. That is a good name store. And, what a thrill to get a perfect table for the price I paid. Just recently one of my readers told me how gracious Chanel was to her when she returned a very valuable fur coat bought months before. She got complete satisfaction when they gave her a credit to buy anything else in the store. So, remember there are many discount stores, but a "good store" will do it’s best to please you.
