Chick Collins
Dog Groomer

Chick Collins, a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, passed away on February 9, 2004.

Collins was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Collins was the proprietor of a dog grooming business.

He is predeceased by his mother, Martha Siederman.

He is survived by his wife Theresa (nee Bertucci) Collins; his son, Chick Collins (Darlene); daughters, Laura Piasecki (Stanley) and Debbie Silva (Roland); sisters, Karen O'Gorman and Eleanor Trainor; and grandchildren, Kelly, Kim and Kevin James, Julia Piasecki, and Chuchy Chris topher and Cory Collins.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 13, 9:45 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima. Burial at Calverton National Cemetery will follow.

Jimmie G. Jefferies
Baker

Jimmie G. Jeffries, a Korean War veteran, passed away on February 6. He was 70.

Jeffries was born in Cherokee, South Carolina. He moved from there to Rockaway during his boyhood and made his career as a baker.

Jefferies leaves behind his wife, Judy Robinson; children, Wanda Lopez, Juanita Jones, Jimmie Jefferies, Dawn Jefferies and Donna Jefferies-Baldwin; his brother, William Jef feries; sister Carolyn Jefferies; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A service was held at Gaff ney's Friendship Chapel.

Interment was at Calverton Nation al Cemetery.

Martha W. Leonard
Rockaway Point Resident

Martha W. Leonard, a parishioner at St. Thomas More, passed away on February 6.

Leonard leaves behind Edna M. Lynch, her sister.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Holy Cross.

Vincent C. Lynch
FDNY Captain

Vincent C. Lynch, a retired New York City Fire Department Captain, passed away on February 9.

Lynch was born in Brooklyn. He be came a Lieutenant Commander of the Navy in WWII. He lived in Rockaway for nearly 15 years.

Lynch was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia E. Lynch.

He leaves behind his wife, Rita Werring; his daughters, Anne L. Keenan (Joseph) and Virginia R. Lynch; brothers, Donald Lynch and Dr. James Lynch; sisters, Kathleen Lynch and Grace Perrott; and three grandchildren, Maura, Patricia and Joseph.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Bob Sommerfield
Custodian

Bob Sommerfield, a long time Rock away resident, passed away recently.

Sommerfield, who was born in New York City, served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962. He was a custodian at St. Camillus, where he also organized and was an active member of the sports program. He volunteered for the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years, and ran the St. Camillus Irish Dance and the St. Patrick's Dance for 27 years. Sommerfield belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Sommerfield is survived by his wife, Bonnie M. Sommerfield; sisters, Patty Hopt and Barbara Long; a brother, John Long; nephews, John, Kevin, Patrick and Tommy Long; a niece Katherine Long; stepdaughter Marie Ford; and stepsons, Patrick Foy, Patrick and Timothy McDonnell; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Pine Grove.

Vernon M. Watty
Auto Technician

Vernon M. Watty, a Far Rockaway resident for more than 20 years, passed away on February 7.

Watty, who was born in Roseau, Dominican Republic, was an auto technician and a real estate broker.

He is survived by his wife Frances (nee Charles) Watty; daughters, Camille Watty Miller and Kimberly C. Watty; sons, Tristan M. Watty and Vernon Ryan Watty; sisters, Cora Valmond and Angela Watty; brother, James Watty; and his granddaughter Destiny Miller.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, from 2-5 and 7-10 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima, followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery.
