SJEH To Host Blood Drive 2/23
John’s Episcopal Hospital, South Shore, is holding a blood drive on Monday, February 23, from 10:30 am to 4 pm. The Hospital is located at 327 Beach 19th Street.
The New York blood Center reports that its supply of blood has shrunk to alarmingly low levels and that without volunteer donors it won’t have an adequate blood supply to distribute to local hospitals. The recent spate of winter storms have caused cancellations of scheduled blood drives which have contributed to the drop in blood supply.
"For our Hospital, which is the 911 receiving hospital for the Rockaways and the Five Towns, an adequate blood supply is essential for providing life-saving transfusions for patients in the Emergency Department and for medical and surgical care," said Raymond Pastore, MD, Chief Medical Officer of St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. "We urge everyone to take the time to donate."
Donors must be at least age 17, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good health. For more information about the drive, please contact St. John’s Episcopal Hospital at 718-869-7000.
