Rockaway’s Golden Age

The National Park Service presents in its next installment of the history of Rockaway, "Rockaway’s Golden Age 1830 – 1930.

This lecture and slide show will take place on Wednesday, February 18,
at 7p.m.

The seminar will take place in the Fort Tilden Visitor Contact Station, Building One.

Learn about what started the influx of people to Far Rockaway. Learn about the famous people who used to patronize Rockaway Hotels. Learn about how people got to Rockaway before the Crossbay trestle. See pictures from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Learn about the famous entertainers who performed in Rock away at the time. Learn about Rock away’s amusement parks.
