Seek Nominations For Teacher Of The Year
Teachers’ Insurance Plan, an auto in surance program exclusively for educators, has opened the nomination pro cess for New York’s 2003-2004 "Teach er of the Year" award.A0The award will include $1,000 to the winning teacher in the state and a $500 grant to that teacher’s school.
"We’re very excited about being able to honor one of New York’s finest educators," said Steve Oakley, Teachers’ Insurance Plan’s Manager.A0"I have a feeling our selection panel will find the job of trying to narrow down the choices to just one winner."
The insurance program is making this year’s nomination form available on line at www.teachers.com, as well as from schools throughout the state.A0 Teachers, students and parents can nominate any of New York’s more than 200,000 accredited teachers between now and April 30th.A0Teachers may also nominate themselves.
A panel of judges that include both public and private school teachers, administrators and union officials, as well as Teachers’ plan senior management will select the teacher who has contributed to the betterment of his or her school, students or educational community in a way that stands out among his or her colleagues in the state.
The winner is expected to be an noun ced by June 1st.
Nomination forms are being made available to all elementary, middle and high schools, both public and private, throughout the state.
