Post Office Honors Harry G. And Elvis

Post Office Honors Harry G. And Elvis

On Saturday night January 31, Far Rockaway Postmaster George P. Buono core attended the Doo Wop Spectacular located at Beach Channel High School to Present Harry Gross with a plaque for his community service in the Rockaway’s for not only bringing the doo wop show to the Rockaway’s for the last 11 years but for also being one of the original teachers at Beach Channel High School when it opened back in 1973, 30 years ago. Harry Gross finally retired after 35 years. The Postal Service presented Harry with a limited edition Elvis Presley Matted Print. The matted print has an original vinyl 45 that was specifically reproduced for the Postal Service with the Song "Return to Sender". The bottom part of the print has an envelope with a picture of the young Elvis, stamped with 2 Elvis stamps that were brought out of stamp destruction special for this print. The first stamp the Postal Service ever brought out of Stamp destruction for this kind of event. The Stamps are postmarked on the anniversary date of Elvis death, on Aug 16, 2003 at Graceland. These matted prints were made available during the intermission in a very limited quantity; there were just a few left that will be available at the Rockaway Park Station Only for a very short time.
