Riis Park Lecture February 4

National Park Service volunteer Bernie Feuer will present a lecture and slide show on the history of Riis Park. Learn about who Jacob Riis was and how people from Brooklyn got to Rockaway before the Marine Parkway Bridge was opened. The lecture will be held at Building One at the Fort Tilden Visitor Contact Station on Wednesday February 4 at 7 p.m. Entitled Jacob Riis Park: The People’s Beach, organizers hope to make it the first in a new series of lectures. Other topics to be discussed are: Learning about Rockefeller’s involvement with the park, the antics of lifeguards in the 1930’s and much more. Reservations are required.
