No Flicker Of Life

No Flicker Of Life

The crushed Yellow Shafted Flicker, a woodpecker, was found by Bernard Blum, the president of the environmental group, The Friends of Rockaway at Beach 67 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard. Blum says that the city’s department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) thinks that through streets are adequate for low flying birds to move from place to place. He says, however, that the birds are often killed by cars and crushed as this one was. He urges beach to bay parks in Arverne to give the birds a chance. The crushed Yellow Shafted Flicker, a woodpecker, was found by Bernard Blum, the president of the environmental group, The Friends of Rockaway at Beach 67 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard.
