Rockaway Ravens Win Pee Wee Super Bowl
If you’ve never seen a tight game, the Rockaway Pee Wees Ravens vs. the Brooklyn Crusaders in the Warner Football Conference Super Bowl was the one to see. The first quarter set the tone for this tough contest. The Crusaders scored the first points of the game and it was huge. Not only did they take the lead but they were also the first team to score on the Ravens this season.
The Crusaders lead was short lived when the Ravens answered back with a kickoff touchdown by Laquan Miles and scored a two- point conversion by. The Crusaders fought back hard but by the end of the second quarter, Miles had scored another touchdown and sent the Ravens into halftime with a 14-6 lead.
The Crusaders kept pressuring the Ravens defense in the second half. The Crusaders scored a fourth quarter touchdown to make the score 14-12. Once again, the Crusaders gained possession with 1:30 left in the fourth and was close to scoring a touchdown to win the game. The Ravens’ Terrell Tripp knocked the ball of the Crusaders running back’s hand and Isaisah Robinson recovered the fumble. With 1:10 left, the Ravens ran out the clock as the Ravens cemented won the championship by the score of 14-12.
The victory was well deserved and hard fought by both teams. The Ravens finished with a 11-0 season and are the Warner Conference Pee Wee Champions. Hats off goes to the coaches: Tim, Travis and Denise.
The Ravens have come a long way from being a new team last year. Despite the struggles with contributions and sponsors, the coaches stayed with their team and used their own resources. Their love of the kids produced a winning organization. All of the Ravens teams did well this season. The Peanuts All-Stars Blue Team won 18-6 with Breland Archbold scoring 2 of the three touchdowns. The Midgets made it to the playoffs in third place and lost to the Newburg Rams. Rockaway Ravens’ registration for the new season will begin in March.
