Rene Bortoli
NYC Parks Worker

Rene Bortoli, who was born in Manhattan but lived in Arverne for most of his life, passed away on December 18.

Bortoli, who was a NYC Parks Department worker, loved to fish for striped bass. He was a parishioner at St. Camillus church.

Bortoli is survived by his sister, Marie McKnight (Hugh); a nephew, Robert McKnight; a grand nephew, Robert A. McKnight; and a grand niece Toni Ann McKnight.

Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery.

Peggy M. Carey
School Secretary

Peggy M. Carey (nee Crown), who was a school secretary at P.S. 88, passed away on December 23.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Martin Crown.

Carey is survived by her husband, Leo; daughters, Meg Kelly, Beth, Carolyn and Katie Green; son, Michael; grandson, Patrick; granddaughters, Emily and Hannah; and brothers, Thomas and Richard.

Visitation will be held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home on Friday, December 26, from 2-5 and 7-10 p.m. Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, 9:45 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Church. Interment at St. John's Cemetery.

Charles Edmund Querrard
Federal Worker

Charles Edmund Querrard, also known as "Chuckie," passed away on December 10.

Querrard was born on October 14, 1968 in St. Thomas U.S.V.I. to Ursula and Carl Querrard Sr. He moved to Far Rockaway in August of 1982 and attended IS 53. He also attended Far Rockaway High School and graduated in 1987.

Querrard joined the United States Navy in 1987 and was honorably discharged in 1990. He was a member of the Navy Reserves from '90 through 1997. He joined the Federal Corrections Agency, Department of Justice and was employed at MDC until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Querrard is survived by his mother; daughters, Ashley and Chayla Querrard; fiancé, Barbara Young; brothers, Randolph and James Rabsatt and Carl Querrard Jr.; sisters, Shalima, Angela, Joanna Querrard and Rehinia Rabsatt; nieces, Jheri, Shana, Isis Querrard, Nikyjah Robinson, Latoya, Tandra, Dinica and Darlene Rabsatt; nephews, Ariel, Oheem, Osimba and Jams Rabsatt Jr.; aunts, Lydia Brathwaithe, Buelah Jules, Frances Smith, Christiphina Hodge, Grasalia Stapleton and Nanette Bryan; uncles, Haldene Bastial, Paul and George Querrard; grandmother, Elvina Querrard. Special mention: Debra Brown and the Brown family. Also survived by sister in law, Deborah Radsatt, brother in law, Antony Holland.

Trudy L. Warner
Aviation Secretary

Trudy L. Warner, a lifelong Broad Channel resident, passed away on December 16. She was 63.

Warner, who worked as an aviation secretary, was preceded in death by her sister, Judith Gross; mother Gertrude Warner; and her father, Lewis Warner.

She is survived by her niece, Susan Johannessen; nephews, Michael and Christopher Gross; brother in law, Roy Gross; aunt, Dorothy Craft; nephew, Matthew Craft; great nieces, Stephanie Johannessen, Emily Gross and Hannah B. Craft; great nephew Steven Johannessen.

Interment was at Pinelawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
