Jane Haase
Retired Supervisor

Jane Haase, a 40-year resident of Rockaway Beach, passed away on December 12.

Haase, who was born in Newark, New Jersey, was a retired supervisor who worked in the insurance industry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Haase and is survived by her nephew, George H. Seifert (Monica).

Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Alonzo Shay Holloman
Delivery Man

Alonzo Shay Holloman, who has relatives in Far Rockaway, passed away on December 7.

Holloman, who was born in Harlem, worked as a deliveryman.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Holloman.

He was survived by his brothers, Fletcher, of Norfolk, Virginia, Joey, of Far Rockaway, Barry and Reggie, of St. Albans; sisters, Carol Miller, of Corona and Cynthia Lee (Mike), of Queens; four sisters in law, other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A service was held at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Disposition was at Oxford Hills Cemetery, Chester.

Howard V. Klotz
Auto Repair Owner

Howard V. Klotz, a Rockaway Beach resident for more than 75 years, passed away on December 10.

Klotz, who was born in Rockaway Beach, was a parishioner at St. Camillus. He was a veteran and belonged to the American Legion Post 272. Klotz was also the proprietor of an auto repair center.

Klotz is survived by by his wife, Helen (nee Santich) Klotz; his sisters, Dorothy Suriano and Betty Thiesen; a niece, Jeanne Monfiletto; sister in law, Kay Stantich; brother in law, Tony Suriano; nieces and nephews, Stephen Suriano, Mary Leclerc, Carry Singer, Jeanne Monfiletto, Lori Fitzpatrick, Gail Jamison, Larry Santich, Peggy Santich and Kathleen Ernst; and many great nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.

Norma C. LaGamba
Early Italian Settler

Norma C. LaGamba (nee LaRuffa) passed away at home on December 9. She was 78.

The LaRuffa family, from Italy, settled in the Rockaways in the early 1900s.

LaGamba is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ralph LaGamba; daughters, Maria Gelphman, of San Jose, California, Carmela Bode, of Lindenhurst, Long Island and Joanne LaGamba, of Manhattan; and grandchildren, Eric and Gina Gelphman, and Will and Christopher Bode.

The family has requested that any donations be made directly to the American Cancer Society.

Anna M. McEntee
Ret. Telephone Supervisor

Anna M. McEntee, a Breezy Point resident for more than 35 years, passed away on December 12.

McEntee, a parishioner at St. Thomas More, was retired from her work as a supervisor for the New York Telephone Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richad McEntee.

She is survived by her daughter, Maryann Whalen; granddaughter, Irene Donnelly, great grandchild, Declan Donnelly; and grandson Richard Whalen.

Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, followed by Cremation by Long Island Cremation Company.

Michael Patrick Moynihan, Sr.
Produce Manager

Michael Patrick Moynihan Sr., a life-long resident of Broad Channel who retired to Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on December 15 after a short illness.

Moynihan, who was a parishioner of St. Virgilius and a Parish Council member, worked as a produce manager for Pantry Pride/Food Fair.

He was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Moynihan.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Arlene (nee Gill); brothers, Frank and Thomas; sisters, Margaret Hoffman, Tina Corbett, Joanne Collins and Mary Malone, of Spring Hill, Florida; children Christina Scott, Kathleen Kroog and Michael Moynihan Jr.; grandchildren Kimberly, John, Jessica, Stephen, Catherine, Melanie, James, Tarisa, Michelle; and great granddaughter Meghan.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Virgilius on Saturday, December 20, at noon.

Funeral arrangements were kept private.

William Van Buskirk
Retired I.L.A. Checker

William Van Buskirk, also known as "Flash," passed away on December 12.

Van Buskirk, a Rockaway Beach resident for more than 35 years, served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima, and worked as a checker in the International Longshoremen's Association.

He was preceded in death by his son, William J. Van Buskirk; a sister, Viola Smith; and a brother, Donald Van Buskirk.

He is survived by his wife, Grace (nee Blute) Van Buskirk; daughter, Susan D'Amore (Vincent); brothers, John and Richard Van Buskirk; and grandsons, John and Peter D'Amore.

Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery.
