Boy Beaten For Snowball Prank
An unidentified 12-year-old Rockaway youth was badly beaten on December 7 by a motorist on Shore Front Parkway who believed that the boy threw a snowball at his car.
The young boy and a group of his friends were reportedly throwing snowballs at each other across the six-lane road nearby Beach 105 Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. when one errantly hit a late-model black car.
The driver of the car reportedly got out with a "club" device that is used to lock a car’s steering wheel.
The driver, an unidentified male, chased the boy up on the boardwalk and behind the closed concession stand. The man caught the youth and beat him with the club about his legs and back.
"He was trying to break my son’s knees," the boy’s mother told The Wave in an exclusive interview.
When the boy came home with multiple contusions on his back and knees, his mother took him to Peninsula Hospital Center and the police were called.
Detectives from the 100 Squad are looking for anybody who witnessed the December 7 attack. Those who want to provide information should call the squad at 718-318-4221.
