Addabbo Sells Bricks As Fundraiser
The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center has launched a new fund raiser for capital to build its new home at 6200 Beach Channel Drive.
The major facet of the fundraising drive is a "Buy-A-Brick" campaign.
In a joint effort with the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corp or ation (RDRC), the health center is trying to raise in excess of $250 thousand towards the construction of the proposed $10 million facility.
Those who want to assist the fund raising effort can buy a brick inscribed with the name of an individual or a company for $250.
There are not restrictions but good taste on what a brick may say, and many people plan to use the brick to memorialize family members, one official said.
Groundbreaking for the new facility, located at Beach 62 Street and Beach Channel Drive, will be held on Feb ruary 20 at 11 a.m.
The Addabbo Family Health Center provides comprehensive health services to indigent and underserved residents of the Rockaway peninsula.
"This is an important time for the Rockaway peninsula," said Curtis Archer, the executive director of the RDRC. "The provide this important ser vice, we must engage not just our political representatives and corporate leaders, but the community as well. This is what ensures the vitality of the Rockaways."
