Students, family and faculty at Beach Channel High School will memorialize two teenagers who were killed last month in unrelated incidents, on Friday, December 19, at the High School.

John Rich, 16, was run over by an "A" Train at the Beach 98 Street station in the early hours of November 11.

He was awaiting his call as a witness in a case a year earlier, where he had been stabbed by two Howard Beach youths after an altercation at a Broad Channel restaurant-bar.

The reason that he wound up on the A-Train tracks is unclear and may become the focus of a lawsuit.

Jonathan Rhodes, 17, was shot in the head on November 17, and died at the hospital two days later. Both young men were students at the high school.

Regine Lifranc, Assistant Principal, Guidance Services, is said to be coordinating the memorial, which will feature the school choir.

The gathering will give saddened students an opportunity "to express themselves," said one staff member. It will be held in the auditorium at 3 p.m.
