Renford S. Blackwood
Renford S. Blackwood, who was born in Jamaica, W.I., but lived in Rockaway for more than 20 years, died on November 25.
Blackwood, who worked in careers as both a mechanic and a doorman, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Far Rockaway.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Maud Blackwood.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Evangelist Edna Blackwood, his children, Carol, Curtis, Gary and Eunice, and by four grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Florence Anderson, two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, a daughter-in-law, Trudy, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
Interment was at All Saints Cemetery in Great Neck under the direction of Jeremiah C. Gafney's Funeral Home.
WW II Veteran
George Epremian, a retired aviation mechanic, passed away on December 6. Born in Schenectady, New York, Epremian served in the U.S. Army as an aviation mechanic. He was 70 years old.
Epremian is survived by his sister, Dorothy Gibbons, his two nephews, Robert Aposhian and Edward Gibbons and his niece, Janet Gibbons.
Internment was at Calverton National Cemetery under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home.
Father of Assemblywoman
Alex Fagin of Far Rockaway died on December 6.
Born in Derby, Connecticut, Fagin moved to Rockaway 47 years ago.
By trade a carpenter, Fagin became a produce merchant after an accident and ended his career at Arciere's Fruit Market in Inwood.
A World War II Veteran, Fagin was well-known as a champion bowler at Falcaro's Lanes in Inwood.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his two daughters, Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer and Gail Rosenberg; by his grandchildren, Mitchell Pheffer, Stacey Pheffer Amato, Joshua Rosenberg and Daniel Rosenberg; by five great-grandchildren; his brother Sidney and his sister, Edith Eisen of Florida.
The family suggests that donations in his name be made to the Peninsula Hospital Development Fund or to the charity of one's choice.
Arthur G. Fox
Arthur G. Fox, a longtime Roxbury resident, passed away on December 8. Fox was active in St. Genevieve's Parish, serving as an usher. A retired director of the NYC Law Department, Fox was on the Mayor's Committee.
Fox is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth and his son Anthony. Fox is survived by his daughters, Carol Davila and Janet Fox; his sisters, Marie and Regina; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 12, at Denis O'Connor Funeral Home from 2-5p.m. and 7-10p.m. Internment will be on December 13 at St. Charles Cemetery under the direction of Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home.
Lucille P. Kelly
Lucille P. Kelly, who lived in Rockaway Beach for nearly 30 years, passed away on November 27.
Kelly, who was born in New York, was retired from her work as a secretary for New England Life Insurance. She was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima.
Kelly is survived by her daughter, Barbara Aliviado; close friend, Sister Barbara King; grandchildren, Carl and Michele, Suzanne Schwartz and Robert, and James and Donna; by her son-in-law, Carl Aliviado and by a great grandchild, Alexandra.

PS 225 School Aide
Veola Marie McConnell died at the age of 91 on December 6.
Born in Manhattan, McConnell lived virtually her entire life in Rockaway. Involved in family, school, church and community, McConnell worked as a school aide at PS 225 in Rockaway Beach and as a travel agent.
McConnel is preceded in death by her first husband, Sylvester Sullivan and her second husband, Charlie McConnell as well as by a son, Charlie.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Edward and Dorothy Sullivan and Terry and Fran McConnell. She is survived as well by her sister, Mae Pauley, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Interment was through Denis S. O'Conner Funeral Home at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
James M. McCorgray
James M. McCorgray, a New London, New Hampshire resident and former longtime Rockaway Beach resident, died on December 1. He was 76.
McCorgray was born in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland in 1927. He lived with his family in Rockaway for years before moving to Concord, N.H. in 1976. He owned and operated McCorgray Construction Corporation before his retirement. He was active in the St. John the Evangelist Church, in Concord.
McCorgray is predeceased by his three brothers, John, Robert and Daniel.
He was survived by his wife of 51 years, J. Patricia "Patsy" (nee Mittmann) McCorgray, of New London; two daughters, Laurie McCorgray, of Salem, Massachusetts and Patricia Tilley of Concorde; sisters, Patricia Lombardo, of Rockaway Beach; Margaret Lee, of Broad Channel; a brother in law and sister in law, Cliff and Marie Russell, of Rockaway Beach; nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as two granddaughters, Emma and Tilley.

Josephine F. McMonagle, a resident of Breezy Point for 25 years, passed away on December 6. McMonagle was a member of the St. Thomas More Choir and Golden Age Club. She was also a member of the Rockaway Point Volunteer Fire Department. Born in Brooklyn, McMonagle worked as a bookkeeper for Chase Manhattan Bank.
McMonagle is preceded in death by her husband John J. McMonagle.
She is survived by her daughter, Joanne; sons, John and Thomas; grandchildren, Colleen McHugh, Samantha, Adam, Kristin and Diana McMonagle and great grandchild, Kelly McHugh.

Priscilla Irene Miller, a retired secretary who worked in Rockaway for over five years, passed away on November 29. Born in Springfield, Ohio, Miller was 79.
Miller was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Adele Taylor as well as her brothers, Charles and Reginald.
She is survived by her husband Charles; sister, Gwendolyn Woods; brother, Richard Taylor; nephews Jeffrey, Brett and Brian Woods; nieces, Allison and Hollis; grandnephews and grandnieces, a host of friends and students as well as her friends, Lovie Jackson of Ohio and Larry Rosen of North Carolina.

Sieda Yvonne Scott
39 Years Old
Sieda Yvonne Scott, a Rockaway resident for the last 17 years, died on November 27. Born in Manhattan and a member of the Community Church of God in Christ in Arverne, Scott worked as an Assistant Bilingual Administrator.
Scott is survived by her partner Joe Nathan White, Jr.; her son, Elijah Joseph Nathan White; mother, Agnes Scott; brother, Richard V. Scott; niece, Ifeoma Scott; nephew, Drelend Scott; aunts, Helena and Yvonne Kirkpatrick; uncle, Willie Kirkpatrick; great aunt, Helen Terry; in laws, Joe Nathan White Sr., Mary, Melissa, Sharon, Kirby, Dwayne White and a host of dear friends: Carmen Jenkins, Debbie Cosby, Gloria Parker and Valeria Ealy.

Mary Catherine Rollerson Randall
Mary Catherine Rollerson Randall Tanner, a hospital worker in Rockaway for more than thirty years, passed away on November 27. Tanner worked as a nurse in St. John's, Peninsula and Surf Side Manor. She was 75 years old.
She is preceded in death by her husbands Thomas Randall and James Tanner.
Tanner is survived by her sons Thomas and Mark Randall; her daughter, Tiffany Tanner; grandchildren, Teneille, Tamera, Qualyza, Kallahia and Charles; great-grandchil, Destiny; godchildren Robin and Kenny; daughter-in-laws, Ramona and Michelle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and extended family.

James P. Supple
James P. Supple, a retired New York Times paper handler, passed away on December 7. Born in County Kerry, Ireland and living in Rockaway for the last forty years, Supple was active in the Irish community, being named Gael of the Year 2003. Supple was also the flag bearer for County Kerry in the St. Patrick's Day Parade for over 45 years.
Supple is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Helen Laurain; sons James, Joseph and Michael; and grandchildren, Kerry-Ann, Joseph, Ryan, Kristine and Jade.

Michael W. Travers
Michael W. Travers, a former Rockaway Beach resident, died on November 22 at his residence in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was 45.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Travers; and a brother in law, John J. Lynch.
Travers is survived by his father, John W. Travers; brothers, John J. Travers and Brian G. Travers; sisters, Coleen M. Lynch and Tara Arteaga; sister in law, Kimberly Travers; brother in law, Christian Arteaga; niece and nephew, Meaghan and Connor Travers.
Private funeral services were held in Cape Coral, Fla.
Ada Lue Tucker
93 Years Old
Ada Lue Tucker, who was 93 years old, died on December 6.
A long-time Rockaway resident, Tucker was born in Fort Mart, South Carolina, the fifth of seven brothers and sisters, all now deceased.
She is survived by her two daughters, Bertha Raiford and Willie Mae Dennis and her husband, Robert Dennis; six grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
She is survived as well by her two nephews and their families, Paul Johnson and Saul Johnson; by her nieces and their families, Murlene Glover, Julia Johnson and Sarah Johnson as well as by a host of relatives and friends.
Retired NYPD Lieutenant
Alfred Paul Zimmer, a retired NYPD Lieutenant, passed away on December 4.
Zimmer is preceded in death by his sisters Margaret and Marie.
Zimmer is survived by his wife, Bernice; children Alfred, Peter and Christopher; daughter-in-law Maria; brother David; sister-in-law Mary Lois; and grandchildren Arielle and Damian.
