Aviation Centennial at Floyd Bennett
December 17 marks the centennial of the Wright brothers’ first flight. To celebrate the occasion, the Gateway National Recreation Area is hosting a day of fun and education at Floyd Bennett Field.
Festivities include exhibits and tours of the control tower and restored vintage planes. A full-scale replica of the pilot station of the 1903 Wright Flyer will also be on display. Visitors will learn about the aviation history of Floyd Bennett Field – from those who were there.
Everyone is invited – especially WW II veterans to the Ryan Visitor center at 10a.m. Light refreshments will be served when the exhibition ends at 2:30p.m.
