Lynthia A.L. Cadet
Model

Lynthia A.L. Cadet passed away on November 24. She was 22.

Cadet, who was born in Brooklyn, lived in Rockaway for most of her life. She worked for the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation, and was a model.

She is survived by her parents, Urisa and Gualbert Cadet; her sister, Samantha; brother Andre; and by uncles, aunts, cousins and other family.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A mass was held at St. Rose of Lima Church. Disposition was at Pinelawn Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island.

Eileen J. Flak
Homemaker

Eileen J. Flak, a Rockaway Beach resident for 55 years, passed away on November 26.

Flak, who was born in Manhattan, was a homemaker. She was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Flak.

She is survived by her son, Daniel Flak; daughter, Barbara Flak-Seltzer; sisters, Marion Evenson and Frances Prigoda; brother, Jimmy Ferris; and three grandsons, Eric and Sean Flak and Jason Mutford.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.

Miriam Ginsberg
Homemaker

Miriam Ginsberg, a Rockaway Beach resident for nearly 30 years, passed away on December 3. She was 93.

Ginsberg, who was born in Brooklyn, was a homemaker. She lived with her husband, Samuel Ginsberg, in a local apartment building, where they were both active in the senior center. She was also a member of the Temple Beth El Hadassah.

Ginsberg was preceded in death by Samuel in July of 2002.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Vogel; sons, Daniel and Allen Ginsberg; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with Gutterman's Funeral Home, in Rockville Centre, Long Island. Interment will be at New Montefiore Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island.

Dorothy James
Homemaker

Dorothy James, a lifelong Broad Channel resident, passed away on Thanksgiving Day. She was 71.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, and her son Steven.

She is survived by her children, Mark and Jeffrey James, along with her eight grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with Hillebrand's Funeral Home, where the visitation was also held.

Lucille P. Kelly
Retired Secretary

Lucille P. Kelly, who lived in Rockaway Beach for nearly 30 years, passed away on November 27.

Kelly, who was born in New York, was retired from her work as a secretary for New England Life Insurance. She was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima.

Kelly is survived by her daughter, Barbara Aliviado; close friend, Sister Barbara King; grandchildren, Carl and Michele, Suzanne Schwartz and Robert, and James and Donna; and by a great grandchild, Alexandra.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery.

John F. Kilgallen
MABSTOA Dispatcher

John F. Kilgallen, a Rockaway Park resident for 45 years, passed away on December 2.

Kilgallen, who was born in New York and raised in Ireland, served in the army during the Korean conflict. He worked as a dispatcher for the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority, and was also a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (nee Clohessy) Kilgallen; a son, John Francis Kilgallen; and a daughter, Kathleen.

He was survived by his sons, Brian and Patrick Kilgallen; daughter, Mary A. Kilgallen and Doreen Parsons; and brothers Frank and Tom Kilgallen.

James M. McCorgray
Former Resident

James M. McCorgray, a New London, New Hampshire resident and former longtime Rockaway Beach resident, died on December 1. He was 76.

McCorgray was born in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland in 1927. He lived with his family in Rockaway for years before moving to Concord, N.H. in 1976. He owned and operated McCorgray Construction Corporation before his retirement. He was active in the St. John the Evangelist Church, in Concorde.

McCorgray is predeceased by his three brothers, John, Robert and Daniel.

He was survived by his wife of 51 years, J. Patricia "Patsy" (nee Mittmann) McCorgray, of New London; two daughters, Laurie McCorgray, of Salem, Massachusetts and Patricia Tilley; sisters, Patricia Lombardo, of Rockaway Beach and Massachusetts; Margaret Lee, of Broad Channel; brother in law and sister in law, Cliff and Marie Russell, of Rockaway Beach; and nieces and nephews.

John P. Moroney
Retired Manager

John P. Moroney, a Belle Harbor resident for more than 35 years, passed away on December 2.

Moroney, who was born in Manhattan, served in the army during WWII. He was a retired manager for Baker & Williams, and a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Church.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Frank and William.

He is survived by his wife, Ann (nee Foley) Moroney; sons James (Christine), Kevin (Rose), Paul (Karen) and John, Jr. (KellieAnn) Moroney; and by seven great grandchildren: Jennifer; John III; Ryan; Brianna; Grace; Mary and Emma.

Visitation will be held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home on Friday, December 5, from 2-5 and 7-10 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales on Saturday at 9:45 a.m.

Darren "Sergio" Rosario
High School Student

Darren "Sergio" Rosario, a high school student who lived in Rockaway for most of his life, passed away on November 25. He was 18.

Rosario, who was born in Brooklyn, is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Chardonay Rosario and Danielle White; parents, Tania Person, and Daniel Rosario; brothers, Daniel W. Rosario and Angel M. Torres; sisters, Alicia T. Pearson, Angela M. Torres, Taitana M. Vargas and Aalyiha R. Vargas; maternal grandparents, Helen and William McCall; paternal grandparents, Christina and Jose Rosario; and many other family members.

Funeral services entrusted with the Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A service was held at the Macedonia Baptist Church, in Arverne. Disposition was at Springfield Gardens Cemetery.

Gertrude (nee Magennis) Murray
Ret. Administrative Assistant

Gertrude (nee Magennis) Murray, a Rockaway Beach resident for 75 years, passed away on November 30.

Murray, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, was a retired administrative assistant in advertising. She was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Murray, Sr., and her son, Frank Murray, Jr.

She is survived by two sons, James and John Murray; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Louis Alfred Snyder
C.P.A., Mason

Louis Alfred Snyder, a 50-year Belle Harbor resident who also lived in Lake Worth, Florida, passed away on November 26. He was 94 and-a-half years old.

Snyder was born in Asbury Park, New Jersey, in 1909. He was a graduate of the Pace University School of Business, a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the New York State Society of Masons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace.

He is survived by his three sons, Alfred Snyder, M.D., Gary Snyder, M.D. and Harvey Snyder, M.D.; three daughters in law, Bobbi, Lauren and Babs; seven grandchildren, Debra, Jennifer, David, Gabrielle, Jodie, Danielle, Juliette; a great granddaughter, Hannah; and a special friend, Ilse.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with the Park Side Funeral Home, in Brooklyn. Interment was at Wellwood Cemetery, in Pinelawn.
