Weiner Could Score Big Bucks For Ferry And More
A bipartisan group of Congressional reps, including Anthony Weiner, are looking to get almost $19 billion – including millions of dollars for ferryboats and terminals – for New York State to spend on transportation over a six-year period.
The Transportation Equity Act would make about $11.25 billion available to support New York highways, and put more than $8.5 billion up for mass transit, including ferries.
New York’s funding has already been earmarked but it will take several months to hash out specific projects, Weiner said.
Congress reauthorizes funding for the nation’s transportation systems every six years and "it’s imperative that New York get its fair share," Weiner said.
Weiner is one of two New York City members on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
