SJEH Celebrates Ambulatory Care Center

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital South Shore has announced that its Ambulatory Care Center is moving in the direction of creating a private practice environment for its patients. In this setting, patients will enjoy more direct contact with their physicians, just like in a private physician’s office. The move is being accompanied by an increase in the numbers of clinical and clerical staff to provide improved service for patients.

"As we move toward a private practice model, we look forward to providing the community with patient care in internal medicine and all of its subspecialties which is of the highest quality," said Sheldon Markowitz, MD, Chairman of St. John’s Department of Internal Medicine.

"We’re on our way to a new vibrant St. John’s, and an innovative ambulatory setting with improved patient care," said S. Ghosh, MD, Chairman of the Obstetrics/Gynecology Department at St. John’s.

Gilbert Makabali, MD, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at St. John’s, pointed out that, "With the introduction of managed care, patients now have the ability to chose their health care provider. It is important for hospitals like St. John’s to make changes in how populations access their health care. To compete, the clinic type practice is being changed into a physician-oriented model, which is the gold standard in delivery of care. More and more hospitals are evolving into this private practice setting. It’s for the better of the patient."

St. John’s Ambulatory Care Center will continue to offer a comprehensive range of medical, obstetric, pediatric, podiatric and surgical services provided by highly qualified and experienced doctors. "As we move toward a private practice model, we look forward to providing the community with patient care in internal medicine and all of its subspecialties which is of the highest quality," said Sheldon Markowitz, MD, Chairman of St. John’s Department of Internal Medicine.

The Ambulatory Care Center has Saturday hours and accepts a variety of insurance plans. For an appointment, call 718-869-7690.
