Did you know that the borough of Queens has played an important role in the history of film in America? Did you know that it has the largest concentration of studios and soundstages outside of Los Angeles? More about Queens, the film industry and the Queens International Film Festival next week. For this week, let me give you a teaser. For this week we present the "16th (or maybe it’s 17th) (or maybe it’s 15th) Rockaway Artists Alliance Test Your Art Knowledge Quiz." All the questions pertain to film and TV in Queens. You may know some of the answers and not know others. I think you will enjoy reading the answers in next week’s column. Lights, camera… action!

Name two film studios operating in Queens. Hint: One of them has the same name as a brand of bread.

Next to what famous bridge is that studio located?

A movie based on "The Wizard of Oz" starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson was filmed at a studio in Astoria. Can you name the film and the studio? Hint: Neither is named for a brand of bread.

"When Harry Met Sally" was made at the "bread" studio. Name the stars of that movie. For extra credit, name the director. For even more extra credit, identify the type of restaurant in which Sally…faked….enjoying……her sandwich.

"The Sopranos" is made in Queens. Is Soprano a) the voice range of the main character b) the type of saxophone shown in the opening credits c) none of the above

What "ageless" singer, who is famous for performing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," is from Queens?

Christopher Walken, who is from Astoria, was one of the stars of a film made in the 1970’s about several young men from a Pennsylvania town who serve in Vietnam. The film also starred Robert de Niro, Meryl Streep and John Savage, among other fine actors. Name the film.

Who directed it?

James Caan played Sonny in "The Godfather." From what section of Queens is he?

In which borough does the Queens International Film Festival take place?

Tough, huh? Especially that last one, right?

Good luck coming up with the answers. See next week how well you did and how much you can learn.
