The NFL/PAL parks and Recreation Flag Football Queens Championship was held at O’Donohue Park (Beach 17 Street) on Saturday, November 1, 2003.

The first game was in the 8-11 years old age division between the Raiders and the Dolphins. The Dolphins put up a valiant effort but fell one touchdown short of victory. The Raiders won and are the 8-11 flag football champions for Queens.

In the 12-14 years old age division, the cowboys played the Eagles. This game was a back and forth game that came down to the final play. When it was over, the Eagles held on by a two-point margin to win the 12-14 championship.

Both the Raiders and Eagles advanced to the citywide playoffs at Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx on November 15, 2003. As we close the book on the NFL/PAL Parks and Recreation Flag Football Season in Queens. There will be an awards presentation at Sorrentino Recreation Center.

Millenium Tournament Start Up

The start of the 2003/2004 Millenium city-wide basketball tournament will begin on December 6, 2003. We invite all skill levels to come learn the fundamentals of the game of basketball. Practice times and days are: Monday and Friday, 3 p.m.–5:30 p.m., Saturdays, 1 p.m. –3:45 p.m. and Friday, 6 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. For more information about the basketball program, contact Robert Lindo or John Middleton at the Sorrentino Recreation Center, 718-471-4818. The center is located at 1848 Cornaga Avenue.
