The PAL/Parks Department/NFL Queens Flag Football Queens Championships were held on November 1, 2003 at O’ Donahue Park located at Beach 17 Street in Far Rockaway.

The 11 years old and under division teams featured a battle between the Raiders vs. Dolphins. The Raiders won 32-24 to advance to the city championships that will be held at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx on November 15. The Eagles and the Cowboys in the 12-14 year old division teams faced off the championship. The Eagles won 28-26 to advance to the city championships as well.

Congratulations go to all eight teams, their members and coaches. Special congratulations goes to Mr. Kyreem Softleigh, head official, Mr. Angelo Garcia, official and Mr. Travis Kelly for their professional conduct and mannerism in this special event for our children. Thanks also go to: Mr. Bernard Robinson, center manager, Mr. Stan Brown, sports director, Mr. Robert Lindo, event coordinator, Coaches Rick Atkins, John Taylor, John Middleton, Kelvin Bower and Julio Morales.

The Sorrentino recreation center presents it’s 10th Annnual Mommy&Me/Family&I Double Dutch Tournament held on November 22, 2003 at the Sorrentino Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Center is located on 1848 Cornaga Avenue in Far Rockaway. The Stan’s Pepper Stepper World Double Dutch Champions will be performing at the World Famous Apollo Theatre for the 12th Annual 2003 Double-Dutch Holiday Classic. The event takes place on Sunday, December 7 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The National Double Dutch League sponsors the event and the Apollo Theatre is located at 253 West 125 Street in Manhattan.
