Student Records To Be Available On Internet
In November, a Pilot project will be launched that will give some parents at Far Rockaway High School access to student-specific information on the Department of Education (DOE) website. The Parent Portal, which can be viewed by anybody, but needs a keyword to get specific information about a student, can be found at http://www. ny cenet.edu/Parents/.
It gives parents access to: attendance records, exam results, transportation schedules, and student menus. Parents will receive an ID and password when they register with the site.
Although this capability will eventually be available to all parents, the pilot will focus on 50 parents in each of 50 schools across the City. Principals and Parent Coordinators participating in the Pilot have received, and will continue to receive, information and support. Parent Coordinators in the pilot schools will receive a half-day training on the portal next week.
