PHC Discusses Updates With JASA
Robert V. Levine, President and Chief Executive Officer at Peninsula Hospital Center (PHC) recently visited the JASA program at the Roy Reuther Senior Center. He presented an update of the many new programs offered at Peninsula Hospital Center. "I am proud to announce that we [PHC] have been designated an official stroke center by the New York State Department of Health," stated Levine. "This means that if a patient is showing signs of a stroke, the paramedics will call ahead to the stroke team at the Hospital Center so that they can be prepared to immediately evaluate the patient, which includes a CT Scan of the brain."
He also spoke about the newly opened Diabetes Treatment Center at the hospital. This center provides comprehensive diabetes management services, including diagnosis, treatment, and support for all phases of care for diabetes patients.
Lastly, Levine introduced the newly modernized Emergency Department at PHC. The modernization project included a complete renovation of the exam areas with rooms dedicated for pediatric and orthopedic patients. The triage area and nursing station were redesigned to more effectively accommodate patients. Dedicated adult and pediatric waiting areas, which include 24-hour security presence, completed the renovation.
Levine presented these and other programs to the members of the senior center. For more information on programs at Peninsula Hospital Center, contact the Department of Public Affairs at (718) 734-2506.
